Gardline Environmental Limited Opens New Zealand Entity
Gardline Environmental Limited (GEL) is delighted to announce the opening of their New Zealand entity Gardline Environmental (New Zealand) Limited (GENZL), based in Wellington. Alongside a permanent local presence, this new base provides access to GEL’s global range of high quality environmental services to the marine industry.
GENZL provides Marine Mammal Observers (MMO) and Passive Acoustic Monitoring Systems (PAMS) and Operators, Marine Mammal Impact Assessments (MMIAs) and MMO and PAMS Training to both commercial industry and research. GENZL have a large percentage of the Department of Conservation’s (DOC) Qualified and Trained MMOs within its Team, and the first and only DOC Qualified PAM Operator for New Zealand waters.
The Wellington office is headed up by Joana Torres, GENZL Environmental Business Development Manager, who has extensive international experience of marine mammal mitigation and environmental compliance having originally worked in the field for a number of years as an MMO / PAM Operator and progressing onto becoming one of GEL’s Senior Project Managers overseeing a range of complex projects for seismic, offshore construction, decommissioning, environmental baseline and research.
Over the last two years GEL has undertaken MMIAs for seismic and research surveys, provided MMOs, PAMS and Operators on four seismic surveys and provided two Pro-MMO NZ courses in New Zealand, including candidates sponsored by Shell Todd Oil Services (STOS). One of these, Mayjane Waru, of Ngati Rahiri Hapu, successfully completed one of the Pro-MMO NZ courses and said "I found the Gardline MMO course intense, challenging and absolutely rejuvenating…. the knowledge learnt from this course gave me the confidence to work effectively and positively on the ship."
GENZL is looking forward to supporting companies working in New Zealand by using local resources in harmony with our extensive international knowledge, expertise and understanding of the unique exploration requirements for the New Zealand offshore industries.
Phil Durrant, GENZL Director, stated “This is an exciting opportunity for the business to build on its recent successes in this region and to offer our clients the same excellent high standards of service that they have come to expect from Gardline, with the addition of local expertise and knowledge.”
